Here you’ll find answers to the most common questions before visiting Idre Fjäll. Whether you’re planning a ski holiday, looking for details about accommodation, lifts, restaurants or activities, this page gives you quick and reliable guidance. We update the information regularly to ensure you have the latest details for the season.
As the holidays approach, we receive many questions about snow conditions, opening hours, and skiing. Here we’ve gathered answers to the most common questions right now. The information is updated continuously, but for the latest status, please check Open lifts, slopes & tracks and follow us on social media for updates directly from the mountain.
Starting December 1, Turisten 1 will be open to the public. Thanks to several days of good weather and snow production, we are now working to open more slopes soon. For the latest information, check Open lifts, slopes & trails.
We will open more slopes and cross-country trails as soon as conditions allow. You’ll always find the latest information on idrefjall.se/en/weather and on our social media channels, where we post regular updates.
Snow production is entirely weather-dependent. Temperature, wind, and humidity all affect how much snow we can make – and where it lands. In strong winds, it can be difficult to produce snow where it’s needed, which means our plans may change at short notice.
Our goal is always to have as much open as possible. We communicate transparently and continuously about the status of both slopes and trails on idrefjall.se/en/weather.
For the latest status, please check Open lifts, slopes & trails. The weather forecast predicts natural snowfall in the coming days, and we hope to extend the trails soon.
We can only base our operations on the weather conditions here at Idre Fjäll. Temperature, wind, and humidity vary between locations, affecting both snowmaking and snow storage. We're happy to have offered ski training in several disciplines since October 17.
We’ve had cross-country skiing available since October 17 thanks to stored snow. However, most of our trails require natural snowfall, so we’re dependent on it arriving.
We have a limited amount of stored snow, allocated for three arenas. Now that natural snow has started to fall, and more is expected, transporting stored snow would damage the surface before the trails can be properly prepared. That’s why we’re focusing on working with the natural snow available.
Stored snow allows us to open early, for everyone. Since October 18, we’ve offered skiing in three different arenas, open to the public as well.
A new snowmaking system is a major investment. We are exploring that possibility, but even an expanded system depends on the right weather conditions to operate effectively.
The winter season 2025/2026 starts on December 1, 2025, and ends on April 12, 2026.
The snow guarantee at Idre Fjäll means that we ensure there is snow on the slopes and that at least 10 runs and 2.5 km of cross-country trails are open – otherwise, you can cancel (at the earliest) three days before arrival and get a refund. The snow guarantee for the 2025/2026 winter season is valid from December 20, 2025, to April 12, 2026.
The terms of the cancellation protection vary depending on the season. For accurate information, we recommend reading our booking terms.

Most of the time, the weather is on our side, but sometimes it can get too cold or too windy, and we may need to temporarily close a lift for safety reasons. If we experience prolonged technical issues with a lift, we always follow SLAO's regulations for compensation.
We groom our cross-country trails every day. This usually happens at night because it's important for the trails to freeze without anyone skiing on them, ensuring they are as good and durable as possible. However, if it snows or is very windy, the trails can disappear shortly after the grooming machine has been there.
We’re opening our first slopes on December 1, 2025! Our first cross-country trail for the season opened already in October. Keep an eye on Open lifts, slopes & trails for the latest updates on what’s currently open.
