More skiing at the premiere ⛷

We have fantastic conditions at Idre Fjäll right now with subzero temperatures, snowfall and snow cannons running at full blast. According to the current weather forecast, we see continued cold in the future, which means that we are now deploying extra resources to be able to further expand the snowmaking. We are doing this to be able to open up for even more skiing right to the start of the season and during the month of January.

In total, for the premiere on December 21, we will offer 19 alpine runs and a full 20 kilometers of cross-country tracks for both classic skiing and freestyle, an almost doubling in the number of runs and kilometers of cross-country tracks compared to last year. Of course, this number will be continuously increased during January through snowmaking as well as natural snow.

You can always find current lift, slope and track status at here.

Since the snow melted last spring, we have been working on the new gondola lift and associated new slopes - the single largest investment in Idre Fjäll's history! However, autumn has brought with it a number of challenges, with above all delayed deliveries of materials, which means that we will have to postpone the premiere of the South gondola.

- Of course, this feels a bit boring. But as a plaster on the wounds, we are instead adding resources and aiming to have more slopes open than ever by Christmas, comments Kjell Skoglund, responsible project manager for the gondola project.

As I said, we understand that this is boring for you who planned to ride the new gondola during your stay with us. However, we hope that the happy news with a greater number of alpine runs and cross-country tracks compared to our snow guarantee will mean that you will have a fantastic winter holiday at Idre Fjäll.

We warmly welcome you to Idre Fjäll this winter!

FAQ

What is the reason for the delay?

Due to the current world situation, there is currently limited access on the market to, among other things, glulam beams, cement and similar building materials. This has caused delays in the delivery of construction materials necessary for the construction of the gondola and is the reason why the original project plan and thus the timeline are not keeping.

When will the gondola open?

We have just received new delivery guarantees from our suppliers and will return with a new opening date for Sydgondolen as soon as possible. This will be communicated through all our channels!

Will the new slopes Pernillabacken and Gondolsvängen open as planned?

The upper parts of Pernillabacken will open to the start of the season on December 21, but the opening of the last part of the Gondolsvängen will be delayed until Sydgondolen is inaugurated.

How will I be affected as a guest?

Hopefully as little as possible! The six-chair lift Väst 6 will run as usual and can handle the capacity we estimate, even if the travel time from valley to summit will be slightly longer than with the gondola. We also plan ongoing efforts to reduce any bottlenecks that may appear.

Can I receive compensation for the delay?

The gondola lift is not included in Idre Fjäll's snow guarantee, which guarantees ten runs and 2.5 km of cross-country trails. Therefore, refunds or compensations for the delay of the Sydgondolen are not relevant. Instead, we invest in compensating with more skiing and extra resources are deployed so that we can offer as many as 19 downhill runs and 20 kilometers of cross-country trails open for the season premiere on December 21. More slopes and cross-country trails will open continuously, you can always find the current lift, hill and trail status at idrefjall.se/en/about-us/information/weather/
